In a career that spans more than three decades, saxophonist Dave Koz has racked up an astoundingly impressive array of honors and achievements: nine GRAMMY® nominations, nine No. 1 albums on Billboard’s Current Contemporary Jazz Albums chart, numerous world tours, playing for multiple presidents, a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and more. Joining Koz this year will be Candy Dulfer and Eric Darius.

The high-octane, feel-good summer show will feature songs from each artist's catalog plus material from 2013's Dave Koz and Friends Summer Horns and 2018's Summer Horns II From A To Z. Both albums debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Current Contemporary Jazz Albums chart.

As some (or most!) of you may know, we at the historic Florida Theatre have collected our fair share of eerie stories over the 97 years since we first opened our doors. One of the better-known tales is that of our ghost seat (pictured above). The story of the ghost seat goes back to 2010, when an area ghost-hunting show called Local Haunts conducted a paranormal investigation of the theatre. The video they captured showed a ghostly apparition of a man sitting in the balcony - in Section B500, Row E, Seat 2. But this is not the first recorded instance of a presence in the balcony. This story closely connected with another experience a psychic consultant had while in the building back in 1997. Jill Cook-Richards claimed a male ghost located upstairs spoke to her. He wanted to be called "J" for Joy, which is what he felt for the Florida Theatre. "He said he didn't need a name from his past, that he wanted a name for his future," said Cook-Richards. According to the psychic, "J" was there to protect a man called Joe Coolier, who was at the time the building's Maintenance Manager. Perhaps this spirit was a former building manager himself.
