Facilities Director Position:
The historic Florida Theatre in downtown Jacksonville, Florida seeks a leader for its Facilities Department. The 1,865 seat Florida Theatre serves the 10th largest city in America, and the greater Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia region. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is consistently ranked as one of the Top 5 most attended theatres in the country up to 2,000 seats by the concert industry magazine Pollstar.
The Facilities Director will be directly responsible for the maintenance, repair and upkeep of the Florida Theatre, and for working closely with the organization’s leadership on the restoration and capital improvement of the historic building.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee all system operations, maintenance and repairs, including trouble shooting and the scheduling of regular maintenance.
- Manage HVAC parameters throughout the year.
- Hire, train, motivate and develop Facilities Department staff members.
- Plan, procure and manage the service contracts and warranties for building systems, such as but not limited to garbage collection, recycling collection, IT, telecom, HVAC, and pest control. Ensure that vendors are completing their work to acceptable standards.
- Establish and maintain safety standards in the Facilities Department’s work.
- Ensure proper use of chemicals and equipment in facilities maintenance.
- Work with the Director of Patron Services to develop and update the facility elements of the Crisis Management Plan, including procedures and schedules for emergency drills.
- Provide advice and support to the company’s leadership as needed for capital improvement and restoration projects.
- Respond to building alarms, act as an emergency contact during off hours.
- Oversee housekeeping functions and ensure work is being completed and up to acceptable quality standards.
- Coordinate the set-up for all non-theatrical meetings, including set-up and take-down of furniture, food and beverage set-up, equipment and furniture rentals, if needed.
- Manage inventory of all stored facilities equipment, office equipment. Allocate storage spaces and enforce standards for furniture and space utilization.

Candidates should demonstrate a high level of expertise in one or more of these areas, and have broad experience with all aspects of facility management. Of particular interest are candidates who have managed the workflow of a team of people running multiple projects simultaneously.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience; at least 10 years of related experience in facilities management; and strong managerial experience with internal employees and external vendors. Experience managing an historic property is ideal.
This position is part of an 8-member Senior Staff reporting to the President. It is a full-time position classified as exempt. It is a hands-on position; occasional nights and weekends are required. Salary is $75,000 to $100,000 a year depending on experience, plus a competitive benefits package that includes: health, dental and life insurance 100% paid for the employee; the ability to buy additional family members into the health plans using a payroll deduction; paid vacation; paid sick leave; paid parental leave; paid sabbatical every five years; and a 4% retirement match.
